RASCO SOLUTIONS FOR HIGHWAY WINTER ROAD MAINTENACE

The first kilometers of Montenegrin highways are maintained by the winter service fleet with RASCO equipment

Preparations for winter maintenance are in full swing across Europe. During the autumn months, as every year, numerous sets of equipment for winter maintenance are shipped from the RASCO factory to several countries. One of the projects is winter maintenance equipment for the newly built section of the highway in Montenegro.

The Podgorica-Kolašin route, which will be maintained with the supplied RASCO equipment, is part of the future Bar-Boljare highway, also known as the “Princess Xenia Highway”. With a total length of 42 km and due to the challenging terrain, it was necessary to build several tunnels and viaducts. All this affected the high complexity of the design and construction of the highway.

RASCO – A RELIABLE PARTNER FOR DESIGNING WINTER MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT

Solutions for complete winter maintenance on highways is one of the most important requirements on which the RASCO vehicle upgrade team has been working successfully for many years.

For the needs of winter road maintenance in Montenegro, ten Mercedes-Benz trucks were converted into fully equipped vehicles for winter road maintenance. The RASCO equipment delivered to Montenegro includes a total of over 70 individual pieces of equipment. It is largely based on the combination of SOLID C spreaders and MOSOR snow plows for a wide range of snow removal applications. The SOLID C spreaders are specially designed for combined spreading. In addition to dry and wet spreading, they also allow spreading liquids thanks to a design that allows carrying additional tanks for the liquid agent. The spreader type for Montenegrin highways has a volume of 7 m³ and is mounted on the tipper box of the vehicle. This is also the most common and easiest method of mounting spreaders. Besides the SOLID C spreader, one vehicle is also equipped with a LIQUID spreader for liquid spreading, with a volume of 12 m³. With the difference that this spreader is installed on the chassis of the truck with the help of a specially designed subchassis system.

The fleet is completed by one Unimog vehicle equipped with a smaller spreader SOLID with a volume of 3.5 m³ and the possibility of mounting an MKN snow brush or a VERTUS snow plow with variable geometry.

All vehicles are also equipped with the RASCO system for remote monitoring and fleet management – ARMS.

Winter maintenance for the new section of highway in Montenegro can begin. And RASCO is always a reliable partner to rely on when you need a complete solution for the entire road maintenance fleet.
